When to use a pharmacy 

Your pharmacist can support you with a range of over the counter medicines for a wide range of minor health conditions. Also with the Pharmacy First scheme launched in 2023, if you have any of the following conditions 

  • Shingles - 18 years and over
  • Sore throat - 5 years and over
  • Infected insect bites - 1 year and over
  • Earaches in children 1 to 17 years 
  • Sinusitis - 12 years and over
  • Impetigo - 1 year and over
  • Uncomplicated urinary tract infection (UTI) in women 16 to 64 years

Your local pharmacist can assess your needs and even issue you with a prescription if this is necessary, saving the need for you to make an appointment with your GP. For more information about Pharmacy First please visit the Hampshire and Isle of Wight ICB website
